What is The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® (ATMAT)?
Arvigo® abdominal massage is more than just a massage; this is the beginning of your healing journey. Founded on an ancient Maya technique of abdominal massage; this externally performed technique helps gently guiding and supporting organs back into their optimal position.
Arvigo® Therapy is best known for addressing misalignment or congestion in the reproductive organs of both men and women, as well as many common digestive disorders. The techniques effectively alleviate tissue congestion and organ constriction to improve the vital flows of energy, blood, lymph and nerves in the abdomen - promoting the release of emotional and energetic tension. This can assist the management of chronic disease symptoms while improving the body’s ability for self-repair.

What can I expect during a session?
The first session will take about 2 hours. I will do a comprehensive review of your past and present healthcare needs focusing on reproductive and digestive health.
During your First Consultation we will:
Put together how what you have shared on your client form may be contributing to your health issues today
Through this we might discover possible physical, mental and emotional blocks that you may not have thought about
Then we can simplify your ongoing, unresolved abdominal health issues
You will learn simple natural self-care practices to help heal your belly and soul so you can create a bond with your belly that will allow you to listen to it
Create a plan of action to help you move forward
Follow-up sessions are scheduled at about 75-90 minutes. Although I provide manual therapy, each session is different depending on your needs. We work together to create a comprehensive self-care plan for you, realistically including what you can do - empowering you to take charge of your health.
The first treatment includes detailed instructions in why and how to do self-care massage to enhance your professional session, which we will review and answer any questions future sessions.
Every session includes upper and lower abdominal massage (unless there are medical reasons to avoid massage in certain areas) as well as an evaluation of pelvic alignment and application of bodywork to improve pelvic alignment when indicated.
This is designed to help:
Align reproductive and abdominal organs to optimal position
Improve circulation to organs
Promote flow of qi, blood and lymph to support the body’s inherent healing capacity
A minimum of 3 sessions are recommended. Those who perform their self-care massage regularly will usually report more and faster improvement in their symptoms.
On the day
Allow plenty of time so there’s no need to rush. Sometimes emotions can come up and you may need some time to process without running straight back to the office.
It’s most beneficial if you’re not menstruating on the day of your treatment; and if that’s the case I suggest moving your appointment accordingly. Although, when treating abdominal issues such as SIBO, we can work during menstruation.
The non-invasive massage addresses all of your belly as well as the sacrum, coccyx and lumbar area. For your comfort I recommend not to wear shape wear on the day.
Pessary for uterine prolapse are to be remove prior to your session.
Contraindications
First 6 weeks following a normal vaginal delivery; 3 months after a c-section
IUD (intra-uterine device for contraception)
